Description

BVV 6" Falling Film Evaporator Cutsheet

Is your lab floor filled with rotary evaporators? Looking to increase solvent recovery throughput? Our new compact 20 GPH Falling Film Evaporator (FFE) maximizes throughput and can replace up to five 50L rotary evaporators.

The BVV™ 20 GPH Falling Film Evaporator is designed to evaporate ethanol that has been diluted in crude oil during filtration or extraction. By reducing system vapor pressure and adjusting the metering valve, users can set the heat exchangers to optimal temperatures for efficient solvent evaporation.

Our FFE is integrated with reliable components to ensure continuous operation. End users need to plumb the process inlet and outlet connections for both heat exchangers, which are supplied with 1.5″ sanitary tri-clamp fittings. BVV™ can assist with parts for permanent or temporary installation—ideal for labs with limited fume hood space or shared equipment.

Below are key features, included equipment with power requirements, and real-world tested performance data.

Key Features:

  • Compact rack design for fume hood use (39″×30″×75.5″)

  • Vernier scale metering valve for precise injection control

  • Accurate heater and chiller temperature control

  • Deep vacuum for effective solvent removal

  • Discharge pumps to eliminate manual reservoir draining and reduce downtime

  • Chemical-resistant vacuum pump

  • Customizable discharge outlets

  • Insulation to minimize heat loss and condensation (not pictured)

  • Sanitary tri-clamp and compression fittings

  • Pre-heat injection coil

  • Injection distribution plate

  • Tube-in-shell heat exchanger for efficient evaporation and condensation

  • Packable vapor path to reduce contaminants and improve separation purity

  • Water reservoir for heating system priming and operational expansion

Crude Discharge Pump
Control discharge speed easily and collect extract directly from the 3/8″ tube into a vessel. Alternatively, attach a fitting to transfer extract to a secondary location. Eliminates frequent reservoir draining and supports continuous operation.

Metered Solvent Injection
Achieve consistent efficiency and throughput with the vernier scale metering valve. Easily adjust to match user-defined recovery targets.

Distribution Plate
Evenly distributes injected solvent across all heat exchanger tubes, maximizing effective heating surface area.

Solvent Discharge and Vacuum Pump
The solvent discharge pump removes the need for a reservoir and allows recovered solvent to be pumped to any secondary location. The vacuum pump manifold offers simple vacuum control throughout the process.

EFFICIENCY
We are proud to share real operational data demonstrating system performance. The table below shows tested throughput and efficiency levels achievable with our FFE.

Throughput 11 GPH 18 GPH 20 GPH 22 GPH 24 GPH
Efficiency 98% 97% 94% 90% 85%

*Efficiency calculated at a 10:1 ethanol-to-crude oil ratio, heater temperature of 160°F. Crude is fully dewaxed prior to entering the falling film evaporator. Solution starts at room temperature. Throughput may vary based on dilution ratio, crude quality, and operating parameters.
